Presidential Innovation Award Pitch-Fest 20251 min read

The Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports, recently held the Presidential Innovation Award (PIA) Pitch Fest in Naivasha to recognize and support innovative solutions aligned with national priorities.

The initiative seeks to identify, showcase, and commercialize outstanding innovations in key sectors, including food security, digital transformation, healthcare, entertainment, and climate action. The competition features multiple categories with eventual winners expected to receive cash prizes and access to an accelerator program.

Some of the categories include, Youth Category: For innovators aged 18-35, University Category: Targeting university students with commercializable research, Mature Start-up Category: For established startups operating for over five years, Research to Commercialization: Aimed at senior researchers in academia and research institutes.

KeNIA is a government agency established to develop and strengthen Kenya’s innovation ecosystem responsible for scouting, supporting, and scaling innovations across various sectors to drive economic growth and job creation.
